Monks way

Nature trail, to enjoy on mountain bike or by foot, set in the ancient landscapes of Baix Berguedà, where the strada Cardonensia or Cardona public roads run through and out over the area and parish of the ancient Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Serrateix. Since its foundation in 977 by the counts of Cerdanya, the monastery and community had strong ties with Cardona castle and the town, the monks enjoying the right to receive two consignments of salt per week from the Cardona salt warehouse granted by their lords, the viscounts of Cardona. It is still possible, while enjoying the silence of these wooded valleys, to imagine the black figures of the Benedictine monks of Serrateix on their way towards Cardona. Breathtaking and indescribable, it is to be viewed and taken in without breaking the peace it breathes.
