Salt Mountain Cultural Park

The old mine Mina Nieves has been restored as a cultural facility aiming to capture the age-old interrelationship established between people and salt. Inside the mining facilities site, information can be found on the geology of the valley, its flora, salt mineralogy and on the uses that have been made of this resource.

The Salt Mountain Cultural Park offers the visitor:

A walk through the old mining facilities: beneath the imposing feature of the winding tower of the old mine shaft Maria Teresa (46 metres), lies the museum area, which explains the history of the industrial exploitation of the valley. The shaft’s mining machinery can also be seen just as it was when fully operational.

A guided tour at a depth of 86 m: Inside the galleries of the Salt Mountain, open since 1997, the various spectacular folds and seams of the deposit and diversity of minerals are displayed in all their splendour. A unique place in the world!

Guided tours at 11:30am and 1:30pm.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:
Site open from 10am to 6pm.
Tours every 30 minutes
Last tour at 4:30pm.

Limited number of places on guided tours

The sustainability of the environment is carried out through strict control of entry of persons into the gallery, the limited capacity of which is carefully respected for the purpose of ensuring its good and natural state.
